How To Make Bubbles From Water and Oil

Hello blogger family...at the end of 2025, I will share how to take a macro stilllife photo of bubbles made from oil mixed with water.

1. Tools and materials:

- realme smartphone

- Additional lens

- Tripod (if you have one)

- Used oil (because the color will be darker and more visible)

- Water

- Straw/syringe

- Small glass container/aquarium

- Additional lighting

- Colored paper

2. Photographing process

- Prepare the container/aquarium and fill it with water.

- Take colored paper and place it under the aquarium and the light (keep some distance between the colored paper and the aquarium).

- Take the oil using a straw/syringe and drip it slowly so the oil doesn't spread easily in the water.

- Prepare your smartphone and an additional lens and start taking pictures, using pro mode to make it easier to find focus.

Experiment with different colors and shapes when dripping the oil.

If you encounter any difficulties, please leave a review or comment so I can help you.

And here are some of my photos.

Hopefully this is helpful and Happy New Year 2026.

Macroart editing tips

Macrophotography has many sub-streams, and macro-art is the one that can best channel the photographer's imagination.

Photographers with a minimal budget or even just using a smartphone are now increasingly facilitated with various application features, creativity, and tips shared by fellow macrophotographers using smartphones.

Editing macro-art using a smartphone can use the PicsArt and Snapseed applications. The techniques used vary, such as blur, whirl tools, and even dizziness which are legitimately used in channeling imagination in macro-art photography.

In editing macro-art photos, it is actually subjective and depends on the ideas of each photographer, so it really requires imagination and a good mood.

The following are needed:

1. Snapseed application
2. PicsArt application
3. Google (select background eraser for the main object)
4. Lightroom (if you want to get more tones) art is usually used: ladybugs, butterflies, mantises.
5. Backgrounds that can be bokeh, grass, flowers, etc.
6. Good imagination and mood.

How to:

1. Open Google to remove the background from the main object

2. Select the background photo in the PicsArt application to paste or add our main object

Macro freezing using a smartphone? Why not???

Macro freezing using a smartphone? Why not???

Shutter speed is the speed at which the shutter is opened that can affect the perfect exposure, control blur, and create interesting effects. Right in front of the camera sensor there is a thin slab-shaped curtain called the shutter. When we take pictures, the shutter will close and open. A slow shutter speed means the shutter will be open longer (more light enters) and a fast shutter speed means it will open faster (less light enters the sensor). This time we will discuss about the types of photos on high shutter speed techniques. The types of photos include freezing, jumpshot, levitation, and others. In this article, we discuss the photo freezing technique and a few tips for shooting frezzing photos. Freezing motion is a technique of photographing by freezing (stopping) an object that is moving from slow to very fast. Shooting a stationary object is different from photographing an object that is moving but stopped. An example of a subject that does not move is an inanimate object. This technique is generally used when shooting when people are exercising. But there are also photographers who use this technique to photograph people throwing things, falling water, moving vehicles, and so on.

Like other photography techniques, this technique requires special techniques in order to produce photos with the best moments. This setup is quite easy to do and doesn't take long. Almost all cameras on smartphones today have Expert Mode (Pro/Manual/Advance). With this mode, it really helps smartphone owners, no matter a Professional Photographer or an ordinary user, to take pictures of the moments they want. Here are some tips for shooting freezing motion photos:

Speed up Shutter Speed
Try to use a shutter speed setting above 1/400s to get a sharper image. If you don't use a tripod or the like, the higher the shutter speed, the safer it will be to get a good picture. If the scene is too bright, then the fastest shutter speed between 1/1000s – 1/250s is the best choice so that the image is not too dark.

Adjust ISO
Don't be afraid to raise the ISO setting if it's too dark. Usually a high ISO setting is used when taking indoor pictures. However, the higher the ISO, the more noise the resulting image will contain. If the atmosphere is outdoor, keep the ISO setting below 800.

Dreaming or Hunting Moments
A simple way to create a moment is to ask the subject to walk, throw something, play with water, or any other movement that is challenging enough to shoot with this technique. You can also hunt for moments by going to places that have the potential for moving subjects.

Keep trying
In photography there is no wrong technique to take a picture or moment. Continuing to try different techniques is a challenge worth taking on the photographer. Therefore, taking many pictures at once is not a ban. Sometimes shooting accidentally can produce quite a quality moment.

So that the moment is not missed or lost, you can take pictures with burst mode. Burst is a technique of taking pictures by holding down the shutter button on the camera. That's it for the discussion of articles about freezing photos.

Good luck.

Tips when shooting macro

Macro Photography has its own challenges and uniqueness when shooting, because the objects of the photo are small objects or animals, such as insects. So in terms of technique, it requires a different approach compared to photographing other objects.

( what you see)

 (what I see 🤭)

Based on my experience and that of seniors who have been taking macro photos for a long time, there are several things that need to be prepared and considered when taking macro photos, in order to produce good and good photos.

1. Time to Take Photos

If we want to take photos of insects, for example butterflies, the best time to take photos is in the morning before the sun starts to get hot, around 6 - 8 am (Indonesian time). Why is it recommended to take macro photos in the morning? Because at that time insects usually don't move much, some are even still sleeping. If we take photos a little later, the insects will have started their activities, they will have started to be aggressive so they are difficult to photograph. In addition to the morning, macro photography can also be done in the afternoon, namely around 5 - 6 pm. However, we may need to prepare additional light such as LED lights or flash to overcome the conditions of sunlight that is starting to dim.

2. Study the Object's Activity

If we want to photograph insects, such as butterflies, dragonflies, mantises, and others, we must be able to see and observe their activities. By understanding their activity patterns, we can get special moments, such as the moment when a dragonfly has breakfast, a butterfly mates, a bee flies to a flower, and so on.

3. Do Not Hurt Insects

One of the important things that must not be violated in macro photography is that we are not allowed to hurt insects. We are not allowed to force or catch insects in a way that hurts them in order to get a good photo. It is better to photograph insects in their proper place, in their natural habitat. So we are the ones who adjust them, not the insects that are forced to follow our wishes.
Then what if you want to take Stage Macro Photography? Stage Macro Photography is photographing macro objects whose positions and moments are set by the photographer. It is okay, as long as it is done near the natural habitat. For example, bringing a water spray to create a dew effect, bringing your own background, as long as you do not hurt the insects, it is still allowed.

4. Don't Wear Perfume

What's the connection between photographing insects and wearing perfume? Some insects are sensitive and don't like the smell of perfume, so when we approach them at a fairly close distance, they tend to run away because they don't like the smell of perfume on our bodies, so we can't get their photos. Those who rarely shower will be visible 😂
dachshund

5. Get Enough Sleep and Breakfast

This is one of the unique things about Macro Photography, getting enough sleep and having breakfast is important before we take pictures. Because as I mentioned above, macro photography is taking pictures of small objects at very close range using a macro lens (dismantled lens), so we have to hold the camera/smartphone steadily, it shouldn't shake even a little. Because a little movement on the camera/smartphone can have a big impact on small photo objects, finally the photo results can be blurry, not sharp. If we don't get enough sleep the night before taking pictures, usually our hands will tremble/shake, especially if we don't have breakfast, it will be even more fatal. So we need to hold the camera/phone steadily and stably, no vibrations or shaking. So don't forget to get enough sleep and have breakfast.
